Secretary of State filing fees can be waived for businesses that are 100% owned by veterans. A veteran whom each has been honorably discharged from a branch of the United States Armed Services.

 The following must be attached to the certificate of formation in order to form as a veteran-owned business:

·       A Certification of New Veteran-Owned Business from the Texas Comptroller of Public Account.  This form can be found at  http://comptroller.texas.gov/taxinfo/taxforms/05-904.pdf.

·       A letter of verification of honorable discharge from the Texas Veteran’s Commission (TVC) for each person listed on the Comptroller certification form. For information on how to request the verification letter, please visit the TVC’s website: https://www.tvc.texas.gov/entrepreneurs/.

 These letters must be submitted with the formation documents in order for the fees to be waived.
